One of the biggest advantages of tidal power is its predictability compared to other renewable sources such as wind or solar power. Tides are caused by gravitational forces from both the moon and sun so they follow predictable patterns based on lunar cycles which makes them much easier to forecast than weather patterns for example. Additionally, because water density is over 800 times greater than air density (and thus contains more kinetic energy), even low-speed tides have enough force to turn turbine blades which means that there’s usually always some level of electricity production happening.

However, there are also some disadvantages associated with tidal power plants too. One major downside is that they can be very expensive to build; particularly if you’re looking at large-scale projects like those found in Europe where billion-dollar investments have been made in recent years towards building new installations offshore Scotland’s coastlines as well as elsewhere around continental Europe). Additionally since they rely on proximity to the shore, tidal power plants can be subject to damage from storms and other natural disasters.
