Early Life

Born on July 9th, 1964 in San Francisco as Courtney Michelle Harrison to psychotherapist Linda Carroll and Grateful Dead associate Hank Harrison. Her parents divorced when she was only six years old after which she lived with her mother in various places around Oregon before eventually settling down in Portland where she attended Wilson High School.

Musical Career

Courtney’s musical career began in the late 1980s with several small bands before forming Hole in 1989 alongside guitarist Eric Erlandson. The band’s debut album “Pretty on the Inside” released two years later received critical acclaim within alternative circles while their follow-up album “Live Through This” (1994) propelled them into mainstream success due to its hit singles like “Miss World”, “Doll Parts” & “Violet”.

Hole would release more albums throughout the late ’90s until they disbanded shortly after releasing their fourth studio album titled “Nobody’s Daughter”. Besides being known for her work with Hole Courtney also contributed as a featured artist on other musicians’ songs including Patti Smith’s “Summer Cannibals” & Smashing Pumpkins’ “Disarm”

Acting Career

Aside from music Courtney has also ventured into acting appearing mostly as supporting characters or minor roles across several movies such as Sid And Nancy (1986), Straight To Hell (1987) & Basquiat (1996). However, her most notable performance is arguably in the 1996 film “The People vs. Larry Flynt” for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.

Another controversial moment came from social media when Courtney accused Dave Grohl (her late husband’s former bandmate) of making sexual advances towards their daughter Frances Bean Cobain – something that both Grohl himself and Frances denied ever happened.

Legal Troubles

Throughout her career, Courtney has had several run-ins with law enforcement due to drug-related offenses as well as assault charges stemming mostly from altercations with fans or journalists that have attempted to approach or question her without permission.

In one instance back in December of ’01 Courtney was arrested after allegedly breaking into ex-boyfriend Jim Barber’s home while intoxicated but all charges were dropped after Barber decided not to press any further charges against Love.
