These innovations not only make wastewater treatment more sustainable but also create new revenue streams for cities looking to offset costs.
Of course, no system is perfect – and wastewater treatment is no exception. The process can be energy-intensive and generates significant amounts of sludge that need to be disposed of safely. And despite rigorous testing and monitoring programs, occasional failures in treatment systems can still occur.
