Exploring the Abandoned Sets of Hollywood’s Past

As a lover of all things TV and film, it’s always fascinating to explore the behind-the-scenes locations where some of our favorite productions were brought to life. However, not all production studios have been maintained over the years and many have fallen into disrepair.

One such location is the abandoned set of AMC’s hit series Breaking Bad in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The studio where Walter White cooked up his infamous blue meth has since been left to decay, complete with broken windows and graffiti-covered walls. Despite its dilapidated state, fans still flock to this location for photo opportunities and a chance to step inside one of television’s most iconic sets.

Similarly, across the pond in England lies a derelict site that once housed Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from the Harry Potter films. The Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire were home to many magical moments on screen but now sit empty after Warner Bros moved their operations elsewhere. While there are plans for redevelopment at this site, it remains an eerie reminder of Harry Potter’s wizarding world.

Another famous film studio that has seen better days is California’s MGM Grand Studios which was used for countless classic movies like Ben-Hur and Singin’ In The Rain. Since closing its doors in 1974 due to financial issues, the lot has become overrun with weeds and debris while buildings slowly crumble away.

While these abandoned sets may no longer serve their original purpose on screen, they continue to captivate audiences as urban exploration sites offering a glimpse into Hollywood history.
