“Room Service: The Thrilling Urban Exploration Trend You Need to Try”

Room Service: The Ultimate Urban Exploration Experience

Urban exploration is the act of exploring man-made structures in urban areas. It’s a thrilling and exciting way to experience architecture, history, and culture from a unique perspective. One aspect of urban exploration that has gained popularity over the years is room service. Room service is the practice of sneaking into abandoned buildings, hotels, or other structures to explore their interiors.

I had the chance to speak with three experienced room service explorers about their experiences; Alex, Sarah, and Michael.

Alex has been exploring abandoned buildings for almost a decade now. He started out as an amateur photographer but quickly realized that he wanted more than just pictures. “I wanted to experience these places for myself,” he said.

Sarah was introduced to room service by her boyfriend five years ago. “At first I was scared,” she admitted, “but once I got inside my first building I was hooked.”

Michael’s interest in room service began when he stumbled upon an abandoned hotel while on vacation. He didn’t have any gear with him at the time but knew that he wanted to come back and explore further.

When asked why they enjoy room service so much all three agreed that it’s because of the thrill of discovering something new. “You don’t know what you’re going to find until you get inside,” said Alex.

“Every place we go to has its own unique story,” added Sarah.

“But it’s not just about finding cool stuff,” Michael chimed in, “it’s also about preserving history.”

The group shared some tips for anyone who might be interested in trying out room service:

1) Always do your research before going into any building
2) Make sure you have proper gear (flashlights, masks etc.)
3) Never go alone
4) Be respectful – don’t vandalize or steal anything
5) Know when it’s time to leave – if something feels unsafe or you’re not sure what’s ahead, it’s best to turn back

One of the things that stood out during our conversation was how much room service has changed over the years. “When I first started exploring,” said Alex, “it was a lot easier to get into buildings.”

“Nowadays,” Sarah added, “security is tighter and there are cameras everywhere.”

Michael agreed but also pointed out that there are still plenty of places to explore. “You just have to be more careful and strategic,” he said.

The group shared some of their favorite room service experiences with me:

Alex: “One time we got into an abandoned asylum. It was incredibly creepy but also fascinating – seeing all these old medical instruments and equipment lying around.”

Sarah: “I’ll never forget when we explored this old hotel in Detroit. We found rooms filled with old furniture and decorations – it felt like stepping back in time.”

Michael: “My favorite experience was getting inside an old factory in Pittsburgh. It had been abandoned for years but everything was still intact – machinery, tools, even employee files.”

While room service can be an incredible experience, it’s important to note that it can also be dangerous if proper precautions aren’t taken.

“We’ve definitely had some close calls over the years,” admitted Sarah. “But as long as you’re smart about things and don’t take unnecessary risks, it can be a really rewarding experience.”

Overall, room service offers a unique way to explore urban areas while preserving history and discovering something new. With the right gear and research, anyone can try their hand at this thrilling activity.

As Michael put it best: “[Room Service] is about more than just taking pictures or bragging rights – it’s about experiencing something truly special.”
