Elevator Surfing: A Thrilling Memoir of Hotel Exploration

Elevator Surfing: A Memoir of Hotel Exploration

Urban exploration is a thrilling and adventurous activity that involves exploring abandoned buildings, tunnels, rooftops, and other hidden places in urban areas. One aspect of urban exploration that has gained popularity among enthusiasts is elevator surfing. Elevator surfing involves riding on the top of elevators as they move up or down floors, providing an exhilarating experience for those willing to take the risk.

I have been an avid urban explorer for years, and one of my favorite activities is elevator surfing in hotels. The thrill of standing on top of a moving elevator while it travels between floors is indescribable. It requires skill, balance, and quick reflexes to avoid being caught by hotel staff or security.

My first experience with elevator surfing was during a solo trip to Tokyo. I had read about the trend online and was intrigued by the idea. After checking into my hotel room on the 15th floor, I decided to give it a try. I waited until late at night when there were fewer people around before heading to the lobby.

I scoped out the elevators for a few minutes before choosing one that seemed less busy than others. When no one was looking, I climbed onto the roof of the elevator as it arrived at my floor and held tight as it descended towards the lobby.

The rush was intense – feeling like you’re flying through space yet tethered firmly enough not to fall off or slip away from your grip – but also nerve-wracking because you’re exposed without any cover if discovered by anyone else who happens upon this scene unexpectedly!

After successfully completing my first ride without getting caught or injured (thankfully), I knew this would become a regular part of all future trips to new cities around me.

Over time though regulations started coming in place making it harder with each passing year due safety concerns raised by some members in our community- including myself after seeing how many people got hurt doing this activity in recent years.

As an urban explorer, safety is always a top priority, and I wouldn’t recommend elevator surfing to anyone who isn’t experienced or doesn’t have the right gear. It’s important to wear appropriate clothing and footwear that won’t slip on the metal surface of the elevator roof.

It’s also crucial to be mindful of your surroundings and avoid getting caught by hotel staff or security personnel, as it could result in being banned from the hotel – or worse – arrested for trespassing.

Despite these risks, however, elevator surfing remains one of my favorite activities as an urban explorer. There’s something thrilling about standing on top of a moving elevator and seeing the world from a different perspective – even if it is only for a few seconds at a time.

As much fun as exploring hotels can be, there are certain precautions you should take before attempting any type of urban exploration activity:

– Always research your chosen location beforehand
– Dress appropriately for comfort and safety
– Wear protective gear when necessary
– Bring along someone else who shares your sense of adventure
– Respect any posted signs or warnings regarding prohibited areas

In conclusion, while elevator surfing may not be everyone’s idea of an ideal vacation experience; for those willing to take on its challenges head-on – they will find themselves rewarded with memories that will last them a lifetime!
