Another cult site is the Twelve Tribes community, which was founded by Gene Spriggs in 1972. This group’s philosophy is based on Christianity, with members living a simple life while also engaging in communal work and prayer.
The Twelve Tribes have been criticized for their strict beliefs regarding child-rearing practices. Members do not allow children to watch television or read books that go against their religious beliefs, and they are homeschooled until they reach high school age. They have also come under scrutiny for allegations of child labor violations in some of their businesses.
