A: It varies from song to song but usually, I’ll start with a melody or chord progression and build from there. Sometimes the lyrics come first but more often than not they’ll come after the melody has been established. Collaborating with other artists is also really important for me – bouncing ideas off each other can lead to some amazing creative breakthroughs.
Q: Your performance at the 2014 Super Bowl halftime show received widespread acclaim across the world! What went into planning such an incredible spectacle?
A: That was definitely one of the biggest moments of my career so far! We put months of preparation into making sure everything was perfect – from rehearsals with my band and dancers, costume fittings, staging setups – we wanted every detail down pat before stepping out on stage in front of millions of viewers worldwide!
Q: You have worked alongside numerous talented musicians throughout your career such as Mark Ronson and Anderson Paak’s Silk Sonic project among others. Do you have any upcoming collaborations that you’re excited about?
A: There are always exciting things happening behind the scenes! At this moment there’s nothing concrete yet but who knows what might happen soon? Generally speaking though, collaborations are always something I love doing because working with other artists allows us both to bring our unique perspectives to the table and create something really special.
Q: Your music is known for its upbeat, fun-filled energy. Do you ever write songs that have a more serious tone?
A: Of course! I think it’s important as an artist to explore different emotions in your music. Songs like “When I Was Your Man” and “Talking To The Moon” are definitely on the more introspective side of things but those songs are just as important to me as my more upbeat tracks.
Q: Lastly, what can fans expect from Bruno Mars in the future?
A: (Laughs) You’ll just have to wait and see! All I can say is that there are some exciting things on the horizon – new music, collaborations, tours – so stay tuned!
